Simple, adjustable and portable analogue TENS machines are useful for pain relief (including period/pelvic pain) and treatment for bladder (and bowel) urgency and frequency.

DO NOT use TENS with the following contraindications:

• Pacemaker or implanted defibrillator 

   

• Medical implanted pulse generators (e.g. sacral stimulators)

   

• Epilepsy

   

• Local bleeding, infection or malignancy

   

• Over the neck, eyes, brain or chest

   

• Over the pregnant uterus

   

• Near an active epiphysis

   

• Poor sensation or circulation.
